Has anyone ever drilled out a 1/16 oz cavity to a 1/8 oz? I was wondering if it's possible to do cleanly.
It's probably possible if you have a good drill press that you can set the depth on and a good bit. Going to have to have a good clamp to keep it aligned. To get it good and smooth would require a really good ball mill bit and that would probably cost as much as a new mold.

I have a drill press but it's not awesome or anything. This would kind of be a bubba special just using the tools that I have on hand. I have a mold that is all 1/16 oz cavities and would like to make one or two into 1/8 oz because I don't use 1/8 oz often enough to justify buying another mold. Guess I can give it a whirl on one of the cavities and hope for the best. If I narf it up, then I've only lost 1 cavity.Quote:

Get you a finish nail, clamp it in the jaws, put mold under it and set your depth by centering the point of the nail in center of ball. Then get a couple of good clamps to hold it in place then install a bit just larger than the existing hole. Try that and see what you get. Just take your time is the most important thing.
