QUESTION ABOUT LARTO
Hey, guys, I have a question about Larto for ya'll. I have only fished there one time, I believe at the 2010 Gathering, so I know NOTHING about the Larto system except what I have seen posted on here. So, I thought I would pose the question here and get the opinions of some of you who fish the lake more often than I.
The question is; "What do ya'll think all of this rain we are getting this week will do to the fishing during the 2017 Gathering that is scheduled for the 27th and 28th. That is just next weekend.
Thanks, in advance, for any replies.

You should be okay as long as it doesn't take a big jump like a foot in 24 hours. Read Cyberwolf's post on Larto. His info is spot on from what I've been hearing. If it gets too crowded around Youngbloods try Dry Larto Bayou. I've heard some good reports coming out of there as well. :fish

Saline/Larto can come up quite a bit with little rain because everything around there drains into it. Not sure how much rain they have gotten so far, but it could mess things up for a few days. Usually once it stops rising and starts a slow fall, the fishing will turn on! You can check rivergages.com to see the levels at larto and see how much it has come up and watch it as it starts to fall.

According to rivergages.com, the water has come up 5.5 inches since the rain has started and is still rising.

Rivergages has it a little over a 1' rise in the past 24 hrs. Jfsiski is correct. Hopefully the rain will stop giving it time to stabilize for a couple of days and then start a slow fall. :fish

Water has leveled out and started to drop slowly. Should be good by the weekend pending no more rain. Slight chance on Thursday. Maybe we will miss it.

I went Saturday and fished till 2 and did not catch much, maybe 7 keepers. Caught a few small ones, but overall, very poor and talked to many others who did about the same. We got to Youngbloods about 7:30, caught 1 right away and thought that was a good sign, but then we didn't catch much after that. 1 boat right by us said they bit well at daylight for about a half hour and then quit. They caught about 20 in the half hour. I won't be able to make it this weekend as I have conflct. Was really looking forward to that. Hope ya'll have a good weekend. It should be turning cool. Maybe that will help.
