As many times as I have worked on a vehicle, I should have been a mechanic!Blew the right rear brake cylinder on the way home from work. Kinda exciting when you step on the brake in traffic, and you have none! :yikesnonono About 2 hrs. and 25 bucks and I was back in business. Glad I wasn't hauling the boat!
Dang!!! It does get exciting when the brakes go out. :yikes

Piece of advice, if you didn't do it do yourself a favor and do the other side cause it will go next. If you pumped the brake and still didn't have brakes need to check the proportioning valve. Should have still had front brakes.
No fun at all. Pulling my camper through AR, just passed Black Rock where the inclines start and no brakes. Right rear caliper went out. 3,000 miles on new pads. The outside pad looked almost new. The inside pad was gone.
Cray,the fluid level had dropped so low that the pedal went to the floor. Had just enough brake to stop at a slow speed. It was a wakeup call.After changing the cylinder and bleeding the system, I have so much brake now I don't know what to do with it!Barely tap it now!I checked the other side and shoes looked great and everything was dry. I will change that side cylinder real soon though!Kinda like headlamps change 1 and you really need to change both cause it ain't gonna be long.
Thats not the caliper going out thats the caliper slides. Have to clean and grease them everytime you change pads. If not they will stick and mess some stuff up.Quote:

My S-10 is sitting on jack stands even as we speak.Started the tear down but cold weather and rain every time I planned to work on it put things on hold.Plus I work a full time job.Clutch went out in S-10.I got plenty to keep me busy round here!Quote:
