Anyone use braided line for casting jigs?

I was wondering if anyone here uses braid to cast gigs for Crappie. I am going to give 10# PowerPro (2lb mono equivalent) a shot on one of my rods, the reason being is that the 6# mono that I have been using will eventually become so tangled that it drives me nuts. I like to cast laydowns and docks with 1/32 oz jigs and live up the Little Saluda which usually has some color to it, right now it's muddy. I have been using the braid on my jigging spoons (1/4 oz) and it has become all I use for the heavier spoon.

I have tried braid for casting, tight lining and pulling and I did not like it. Went back to all mono.

I use braid all the time for cast and drag. Normally 1/16 oz.

I use 10/2 braid on my jigging poles and use a mono or fluorocarbon leader. It works well up the rivers where there is some color in the water and I love the added sensitivity.

I've never tried it on my casting rod. I always use 4 lb mono on them. Usually, I use high vis line.

I will say that the braid and the jig vis line doesn't seem nearly as productive down the lake in the clear water. Or, I don't have any confidence in it. LOL

I have used braid for bass fishing since it first came out and use it on several of my crappie rigs. I like it for casting because of the no bird nest off a spinning reel. It is agrivating at times with line wrap around pole. I think you just have to just give it time because the benefits far out weigh the negatives. Now if you want to give up just a little line diameter the best for casting in my opinion is the fused line like Fireline. Little stiffer, won't wind whip as bad as regular braid,little larger than regular braid yet still smaller than mono for same test. You can get it in lime for muddy water and for real clear water they have a Fireline crystal that's pretty invisible. Great sensitivity and cast ability.

Casting jigs to brush piles I did use your Power Pro 10/2. friend of mine used mono and I braid with same jig in the same boat on a brush piles and we both caught the same. Dock fishing I would use mono because I believe braid sinks faster from what I read. I use Braid with flourcarbon leader for tightline and long line.

I use the Fireline and others like in the high viz color. I fish mostly 1/32 oz. jigs and I shoot them most of the time. I like it because it's so small and very limp and has no memory and supper strong. I'll never go back to mono type line again.

I remember that you told me that a long time ago, when I worked at Cayce, what color and pound test do you use.

I use the high viz yellow/green and in the 8 pound, about 2 pound size. It's so small I can hardly do my knots with my ole fingers. Don't try and break it off because it'll cut into your hand. I carry a large dowel to wrap it around when I need to break it off.
