Spider rigging?

I can't spider rig from front or back with my setup
Opinions on which is best?

Show us some pictures of why you cannot. Spider rigging is best done off the front if you are using a lot of rods but that is not always the best way. The person up front usually catches more fish as they get to them first and catch the aggressive fish. One person I know likes to fish off the side and does real well using only a couple rods. I always fish off the front with 10 rods and do okay. The rear fishermen is fishing used water so to speak. If you are alone then either is okay but if the fish are shallow then the boat could spook them. Don

Brett, if you had rod holders on the sides of the boat like my brother, you only need to stager the rods out for the longest and work your way down to the shortest. My Alumnacraft is set up for 8 off the back and 8 on the front. Longest rods are on the out side on the back working in the short ones. On the front, the longest ones out from of the side of the trolling motor and shortest on the back of the rod holder to you. Fan them out to cover as much area as you can. Just go slow if your spider rigging or your trolling motor will have fun eating your line up.:popcorn

I have my boat set up to fish off the front, side, and back. I don't like the front as much since I would sit very close to the edge and have nothing to hold on to. But it is an option for certain places or if someone who goes with me wants to use it. I almost always fish off the sides and I'm just about fixed on that! I just set up the back and for the most part I like it an option if someone goes with me and our lines won't get too close together(sometimes a problem when we both fish off the side)but if I go by myself, I'll fish off the sides.

I would vote the front. Mainly for boat control and being able to position yourself on structure and ledges. I run 8-10 off the front for myself or me and a partner. If I have a third person they fish 4 out the back. Like Don said, the folks in the front normally catch more but that's not always the case. One instance when I've seen the back be better is in the wind. If the nose of the boat is bouncing in waves it makes it tough to catch fish because your baits are bouncing too. Normally the back of the boat is moving less...
