Ranger Boat and Spyderloks

My rainy day project is to mount my spyderloks in my Ranger boat. I have come to the conclusion that there is no possible way to put the left rod holder anywhere up front that allows tm to deploy/stow without first removing holder. Bummer, but no way around it. That being said I think I have identified the location that will work for both single person in middle or two people in dub-l-seat. Two questions:
1. I can't feel or see what's under the deck in these places. Any one out there know if I'm going to hit any wires in these spots?
2. Looks to me like an 11/64 bit is about the size of the screw shanks. That sound right for drilling holes?

Gene build a slide piece that makes it easy to slid over out of the way. Go to his thread in the Member Sponsor forum and call him up.

I am ok with having to remove the left one each time I make a move. Part of the reason I went with spyderloks was the easy on and off. I like the spyderloks so far, but one thing is for sure, they are a lot bigger profile than the hi-teks I've always had before these. But no matter, the tm and cables were going to make it impossible for any holder on left side.

My main question is are there cables or wires under the deck in either of those locations?

I called Gene and he sent me the picture of the slide mount. I ordered one. You still have to loosen it up to deploy the trolling motor, but you do not have to take the racks all the way down. Also it will benefit me when I transition for fish 2 up front to solo. Call E-Z Poleholder ( Gene Johnson ) at 601 750 3519 and get a sliding base for your Spyder Lok

I am pretty sure that all wiring on that side of the boat is ran through a conduit along the rail and you shouldn't hit any wires when drilling in the deck. I own a Ranger and have mounted rod holders in the same area with no problems. I too have to remove mine when deploying the trolling motor, don't like it but it is what it is. Stick, I understand the excitement of the a new boat and equipment, but removing your left one every time you move will get "old" after awhile. Just saw that slide that Gene has come up with. He is a very smart guy. I agree with "G". Call him he will be able to solve your problem. This ain't his first rodeo! I also have his holders and had to mode mine to make them work like ai wanted. He'll get you out of this situation. You have many years to enjoy that Ranger........don't cut yourself short. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

Attachment 256473I'll send "G" a message. I just don't see where the rod holder can even slide out of the way between tm, cable, and foot pedal. The only direction I see it working is back towards rear of boat behind tm head. Is loosening set screws and sliding holder quicker than loosening and removing? I appreciate all the info guys. Here's on overhead view of deck with tm stowed so you can see what I'm dealing with.
