Thoughts on winter pool Grenada fishing

make sure you set your offset to lake level before you even back the boat down. We had ours set for martins seven ft drawdown. We were running thirty across Grenada and found our selves in 3-4 inches of water. If we had not been running a jet boat we would have been thrown out. Instead we floored it and skimmed across the sandbar.

Them lakes are very dangerous at winter pool. I think anyone that fishes the big 4 should go down and ride the lake bottom at winter pool to get a better understanding as to what they are getting into I have seen folks wide open in 2 foot or less of water and not have a clue

Wish I had a dollar for every time I've been fishing a winter pool lake and said to my buddy, "hey, watch this guy coming". I seen lots of guys with wet feet. Been that guy myself once or twice.

Yep, happens quick

Sand bar? Mud or clay bar is more like it.
Out on the lake with my son. I've got the depth finder and trying to find deeper water than 3 ft. My son is some 20 ft away and having to push off out of the mud. We found 8ft of water, no fish in 3 hours.

Sand,mud or clay is bad news in skinny water. After yesterday I'll not come back in a prop again. After we set the offset to 21 ft we were a lot safer navigating. We learned a lot about the channels and marked a lot of fish. It's just so different than our crystal clear lake that there is much to learn. We may come back in spring but it's doubtful. It's hard to leave fish looking for fish. We will be catching thirty a day at that point a piece. We marked thousands upon thousands of fish yesterday and got short hit a couple of times. Not catching a single one. We just enjoyed the beautiful day the lord made.
