Lake Barkley
My wife and I are thinking of fishing Barkley this year instead of Kentucky Lake. We will be there first week of April. Can anyone help with the best section of lake and a place to stay. We would like to rent a reasonable priced,
clean cabin. We need to be able to park the boat beside the cabin to charge at night. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I haven't stayed down there in decades, but when I did it was at the Barkley State Park Motel and at Parkview Cottages (a short distance down Blue Springs Rd from the turn onto the State Park Rd). We launched at the state park launch ramp and fished around the marina & state park building bank and the buck bushes in the back of the cove to the south of the ramp. That's in the Little River.
All the other times I've been there, I was tent camping at the Canal Campground and fished the buck brush & logjams from the dam to Kuttawa Harbor.
All of my trips to Barkley have been in the third week of April, but so long ago that the population change to a majority of Black Crappie hadn't taken place. I'm talking 30-40years ago

I would check with the Lake Barkley State Park and see if any cabins are available during this time, that would be choice number one, then I would check with Parkview Cottages as Crappie Pappy has mentioned. I live near Boat Ramp 4 on Barkley and they have Savage Cabins, don't know the condition or shape but something to check into? Prizer Point may be an option. I would think during April based on boat traffic in my bay, cabins would be prime or difficult to get. You may consider just getting a room at the Lake Barkley Lodge? Anyhow, I think the Crappie during April is normally fabulous here on Barkley, The Little River Area of Barkley has a ton of structure as it is nearly impossible to hide structure these days with the electronics. I would suggest doing a map recon of Little River, look for channels, then look for structure people have dropped along those channels, or near the flats, it is there for sure, you just need to find it, some of the state stake beds and brush piles will produce as well. If you need any further advice about this specific area give me a yell.

Thanks to every one for their help. We have reserved a room at Eddy Creek Marina. We are takeing our son fishing who will be in on leave from the US Air Force. He will be coming in from the cold of Alaska. We have never fished Barkley but hope for a good trip. Any one who can give any advice on fishing that area, places to eat etc. can private message me. Your help will be greatly appreciated. We will be there April 3-7 and would love to meet any crappie.com members who may be there. Thanks again for your help.

Two good restaurants close by are the Copper Top in Fredonia and Our Daily Bread in Eddyville. Copper Top is a little drive for you but it's got good barbecue and other food. Our Daily Bread is close to you and has really good food and deserts. I ate at the restaurant in Eddy Creek and it was decent but the service that day was Very Slow. We were bluegill fishing and just moored our boat at the dock, an hour later, we were still in the restaurant.lol
We used to stay over at Buzzard Rock Marina. They've got those efficiency units, they were only ok for the money.
