I wish I had a good report with lots of pics. I don't. It would seem that only three or four of us were curious enough to see what this latest cold front did. It was chilly around 10am when I put in . Steady north wind around 8-10 mph pretty much had the whole lake slightly white capping. I went straight to the deepest water on the lake where I'd done OK this past Sunday. It was safe from the wind there. Today, the water was between 50°-51° with the outside temp at 33° when I arrived. The fish were there, but I couldn't get one to touch a crank. I ran the channel on both sides and right down the middle, running 15-17ft. After a few passes, I decided I'd try to tightline jigs and drift through a good school. As soon as I drifted into them, I picked up a dink on pink/black jig I tied. I had a couple more hand rolled pink/black and pink/white in the water along with a 2.5" BG swimmer in electric chicken, and a blue GoGo minnow. I tried from the bottom up to 11' with no luck. I found a couple nice schools that were right where I left them last Sunday. I just couldn't make them bite. I didn't bring any shiners, but another fella was right there with me tightlining some as well as jigs. I saw him catch one. He didn't stick around quite as long as I did, but he gave it a good effort before bugging out. I pulled in my jigs at 1:30 and threw the cranks back in and pointed back towards the Parks Rd launch. I ran a good zig zag pattern to cover as much as I could on the way back, eventually running back into the 17/18ft water, and giving it a noble effort in the choppy water. I picked up one 10" fish straight out in front of the dock as I neared the launch. This was the least productive day I've had since I started fishing again back in Sept. I guess I was due to get checked, but at least I caught two, so I wasn't entirely skunked. Bright side, it can only get better. The top jig caught the only jig catch. The other was on a Pearl Bandit 300. Maybe next time they'll act right.
