Lol, you ain't lying I hunted yesterday morning in that stiff north wind, by 9am my eyeballs was about froze and it was 34 degrees, lows in the upper teens tomorrow night and Saturday with a good 10-15mph N wind.. they talking a little snow here tonight, I'm hoping for it cause I want have to work if that's the case :pray
I could go for a good ole snow day myself. Its in the forcast but i will be suprised if it happens. Cold weather should get the big boys up and cruising anyway!
High tomorrow here sposed to be 32 with north wind blowing. Son going huntn, I'm tempted but I ain't as mad at them deer as he is.
Will be in the stand early, love to sit in the shooting house and watch it snow!!!
We always tree stand hunt in the mornings and hit the houses in the afternoon. Just the way our deer pattern in our area. Been getting up at 4:00 a.m. and sitting in the tree by 6:30. It's usually a 20-25 minute walk to any stand. Not bad for a geezer but I'm wore out. Not cracking that ice in morning.
Like your style Boatbottom, I hunt a good bit of public land locally before and after work usually. I have a 4 wheeler in the back of the truck, for retrieval only.. same practices on our private land.. too many youngin scared to walk a mile or two. I dislike 4 wheeler traffic about as much as I dislike dogs, if not announced....

Nothing like walking in the dark, smelling the new morning, hearing the sounds. Taught my sons not to use a flashlight going in. When you hunt often on 300 acres you will keep it fresh if you leave them wheels at gate. Makes a big difference. Like you, four wheel only for retrieval.
