which transducer setting should I be using in water less than 30 ft. 83/200 or 455/800 ? THE ELITE 5 HDI came with a 50/200 or 455/800 . I should have changed it out earlier I guess .

Personally I'd use the 455/800 ... I use the 800kHz setting on my Lowrance Elite 5DSI, but it doesn't have 2d capability. The ad screenshots show 200 on 2d & 455 on DI (splitscreen view), so if it's capable of doing that, then I'd set the 2d on 200 & the DI on 800.
I'm also not a big fan of the red/green/yellow palette choice, either. I prefer the blue/white palette, because it seems to show a clearer image & I can more easily define what that image is.
Your Elite 5HDI is the same unit as my Elite 5DSI ... but with 2d sonar added back to the mix. BUT ... your taste in palette colors or kHz settings may differ from mine. :twocents
thanks for your response .
The HDI has 2d as well as down scan? If that's the case you need the 83/200 for 2d and the 455/800 is for the down scan.
The unit came with a 50/200 and 455/800 transducer . when I ordered the one to put on trolling motor it is a 83/200 and 455/800. while waiting on the new transducer I found a way to mount the 50/200 ,455/800 on the trolling motor . Would it be beneficial to switch the 50/200, 455/800 for the 83/200, 455/800 ?
