I pulled my tracker out the lake to install the garmin I just bought. As I was removing the old transducer I saw where a muskrat chewed it almost thru. Anybody got any ideas as to how I can protect it from happening again. I thought about wrapping it in some kinda wire. I try to kill all of the pests I see but have not seen this one. Thanks Don
I had the same problem 2 years back. didnt take the bastards but 2 nights to figure it out at my inlaws dock on LKN.
there are 2 ways to prevent it:
1. dock your boat where the back is pointing towards the mainlake. believe it or not that does make a big difference.
2. take them out with some lead. best solution.

Got to an automotive speed shop and ask them about steel braided line. They used to make a wannabe cheap way to cover fuel lines etc. with steel braided line with fake steel braided lines. You'd slide the braid over the line pull tight like aJapanese finger trap.The picture I'm attaching show a piece of it. If you can't find some I'll pull this old stuff off the wire and send it you you. It's on an old unit. It may help.
Don i will let you use my scar to take care of that problem, shoots really accurate, the remington 700 might be alittle to much. Btw, accidentally posted my fishing report under the main forum, hoping admin will move it down to south carolina.
Is this a pontoon boat where the wires are ran under the deck? I f so go to your favorite hardware store and pick up a roll of metal clad seal tight conduit, its flexible has a plastic outer cover with a steel core...you see it used on a/c units power from disconnect to unit.
It is on a tracker targa 18 and the way the transducer is wired the the wires are away from the boat about 6 inches. Had to tie strap to boarding ladder. I will take a picture and post tomorrow.
Don, you might want to try this muskrat guard. I checked around and only found good feedback on them so now I have them on my boat and pontoon. I have copied and pasted a article from a web site that I can't remember the name of right now.
