Laugerty Creek
Hi folks, just wanted to know if anyone fishes the tributaries off the ohio river? I live on Laugherty Creek so most of my fishing is done there. Haven`t tried other areas so just looking for some in put about crappie fishing and the creeks in my area.

I can't comment on that creek specifically, but I fish creeks off the Ohio quite often. Crappie have the same habits as with any body of water. Cover and a food source and there will be fish. I jig fish laydowns and standing timber with some good results. The flow of the water and the clarity are huge factors in river fishing. The Ohio is home to some huge crappie that get over looked. But this time of year I'd be chasing the fish with teeth.

Thanks for the info, yes there are some good quality fish. I have never tried jigs, it seems I always go minnows with ggod luck. I awsume your jigs are being dragged under a bobber?
-
No, single jig fished vertically. The creeks around here, around 8 or 9' deep is where the fish are all year.

I see, the creek I fish has a deep chanel 15-18` deep so I guess I`ll try deep water cover next to the chanel breaklines.

Is there a public ramp on the bottom end of Laughery? I know of the ramp outside of Auroa near Cole Rd but that gets flooded quite often it seems.

No there is nothing in the deep water area. People go to Taners Creek and put in there.
Holiday Hills Resort may give permission not sure?
