Lowe 1040 jon

I got an urge Fer one! Anyone have any knowledge of one in action. Don't want no Yak er talk bout one. To old to paddle! Have big boat Fer big water!! Want a jon to pond fish and get up amongst waders !!

I gather this is a 10 ft boat. There are all types and some are so light and shallow that if you leaned over to boat a fish and broke wind you would capsize. I've also seen 10 footer there were solid as a rock and very stable, so that is what I would pay attention to,

I dont think you can get a jon boat that short wider than a 36"

That's not a boat. That's a canoe. Look at the Sportspal or Radisson type canoes.

I would put this over on the Lousiana board. They the most likely to have any experience with that short a boat that wide. Might even have to have something like that custom built.

The boat exists. I'm saying get one of the Sportspal or Radissons because the foam sponsons will keep it from flipping.

I just can't get over SeaRay's description of the light and shallow boat. Still chuckling...awesome! I guess simple minds truly are easily amused.

I have a 30 something year old Ouachita 10' jon boat and love it. I power it with a 50# MK trolling motor which is more than plenty. There are some bays on Kentucky Lake which get VERY shallow in the back end and I can get all the way back as it only draws about 4' or 5" with me (250#) my tackle and a big series 31 battery - which lasts all day even if it is windy. Of course I don't venture out into the main lake with it as the winds pick up pretty fast on the lake. I am able to drag it to a few ponds I have permission to fish without too much effort.

I would suggest that if you EVER plan to take a partner, even a kid, that you consider a 12 footer. They can be had a bit wider which makes them more stable and taking a buddy is possible (not comfortable but possible) while in a 10 footer you are on your own.

Check out the creek boats a buddy of mine just bought one and it's pretty nice
