While I was jigging brush piles at GRL yesterday morning, my bass fishing son caught a 40" Muskie on a willow leaf spinner bait. We took some pics and released the fish. Great fight & awesome experience. We did manage 7 keeper crappies, a white bass & a couple Ky bass all on jigs. Good bite until the clouds cleared. Just after releasing the Muskie, we spotted a bald eagle. Great day on the lake. 😑
Sounds like a fun day on GRL.

I had a small musky strike a plastic worm about three feet from boat at grl a couple if years ago. It scared me to death. I didn't fish for thirty minutes after that.
LOL !!! Yeah, fishing a spinnerbait at Green OR Cave Run is almost "asking" for a Muskie to smack it !!
I have a 12lb/32.5" Tiger Muskie on the wall, that I caught at Green back in 1985 ... Crappie fishing with a 1/16oz chartreuse marabou Roadrunner, on 4lb test mono. Wouldn't have kept it except for the fact that it tore a hole in the net while being landed. :yikes Also destroyed the reel (el cheapo Wal-Mart blister pack rod/reel outfit) that I was using at the time. :Doh: (hey, it was all I could afford back then :Rofl )
That is too funny CP! Awesome fish, the Muskie. My wife said we should have kept it and mounted it. Wonderful experience, that we will never forget for sure.

I had never thought of catching Muskie in Kentucky (I'm a poet). My wife and I are down there 3 times a year, mostly KY Lake. A musky would be fun.

A 5 lb Smallmouth destroyed one of my reels at GRL when I was about 12 years old. Best fighting fish I've ever hooked. GRL is one of my favorite lakes.Quote:
