Yankee on D'arbonne
Down from Michigan for the Thanksgiving holiday and headed to the D today. Launched at Hwy 2 shortly after daylight and started marking fish as soon as we hit the channel. Lots of fish, lots of shad but not a lot of takers. Pulled out around 2:30 with 20 in the box. About 50/50 plastic and shiners. Best color plastic was black/ yellow , black /white and black/ red. Most fish 13-16 feet down in the channel. Heading to Poverty on Friday, anyone been there and have any tips?

Yep. If the wind is blowing, stay home. And, do not assume that all of the open water is the same depth. The crappie may be in the deeper water in the coves on the east side of the lake, but not sure as I have not been over there yet this fall. Be careful and good luck.

Great tip Pastor. Checked the weather and we're looking at 6mph nne so shouldn't be too bad. I know what you mean about the open water. My first time on Poverty a few years ago I nearly got hung up in the shallow water off the canals. Our plan B is to head back to D'arbonne. Going to fish Sat. and Sunday then head back north Monday or Tuesday. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving.
