I noticed my Lowrance Elite7 with DSI transducer housing has a 3 inch crack in it. I did not notice any issues with the locator functions last time out on the lake last month. Should I epoxy over the crack to keep water out and freezing this winter or just buy a new transducer?
Dan I suggest you purchase a new transducer, better than not having it giving you problems out on the lake.
I would seal it with some good marine sealant and keep using it and look for a deal on a spare.
Personally, I would get a new transducer. If it were to short out and somehow damage your unit, that could cost a lot more than the transducer itself.
Epoxy or fiberglass will probably make a decent repair but you might talk to Lowrance customer service and ask their advice.

Jb weld, plastic weld. Good stuff. It's sandable and paint able.
