Trip to lake Talquin
I left Wednesday morning to go to lake Talquin for the fall slab fest. Was about an 8 hour drive which was made without any problems ( thank the Lord ). Met TNT from the Georgia board when I got there and went out with him for a couple hours. Of course what he caught fish on I did not have. We fished Thursday and Friday and had a fish fry Friday night. Sat we got up to about a 30 to 40 mph wind which was rough fishing. We had a fruit jar tournament hosted by Slab. Bite was slow sat and we quit at 12 for the weigh in. 5 fish per boat and a little over 6 lbs won it. After a hot dog lunch I headed home to surprise the wife. I was supposed to stay till Sunday but I was not gonna fish in that wind. I got to put faces with screen names and really enjoyed the fellowship. I met the head gewber and his dog. Most people fishing were trolling and anything bright blue was a good color. We fished with 1/16 oz jigs with a number 5 split shot added. Water temp was 78 degrees. I had fun and hoping to attend some more. I am hoping Tim will post pictures for me.

Good report Don, but man that wind had to be brutal. What is a "Fruit Jar" tournament? I've seen the term but never knew what it was.

Thanks for posting for me Tim. There were a lot of fish caught I just did not take any pictures. Friday was my best day I had 11 keepers. The only difference I see in a fruit jar as compared to a regular tournament is the name and who ever organizes it makes the rules. It was weigh in 5 fish and 1 2 3 won a prize pack from Slab.

Looks and sounded like an awesome trip Don.
Maybe next year I'll be able to go.
