What are guys using to store your extra rods? I am accumulating a good many rods-single pole,cranking,trolling- and need to find a way to store the ones I am not using at the time. I have a 30x50 shop but it only has 10' side walls but has a vaulted ceiling of 15'. I can't stand them on the wall because they are not tall enough.
I was thinking hanging them from the ceiling. Just wanting to see what you were doing with yours.

Boatorr does something very similar to what I do. Your ceiling being high isn't an issue, you just need to build a frame for the racks to hang on. You can also go multi layer, there are no limits. Also different sections for different length rods to keep them from storing in a bend. I will say that I haven't damaged a rod since I began this many years back. I found some hooks that hold the clothes pole in a closet that i use for the heavy end and 1" cup hooks for the light end. 12' rods get 2 cup hooks to give the right support. I'll post some pics of mine when I can. It's worth the effort and you won't regret it.

Attachment 250749 Since I have a high ceiling I built these along a side wall, works for me.
I use hooks that attach to the wall vertically and poles lay horizontally. Each set can hold at least 8 poles easily. Got em at Tractor Supply in their junk bins for $5 a set. I have 12 rods on top set, 8 rods below that, and 12 rods below that from 18' down to 10'. My short rods are on a rack I bought from BPS. I've posted pics of them before.
Maybe a little different way to look at this. I don't like to hang rods horizontaly. I used right angle screws in a 1 x 2 mounted to the wall. I am working on a rack that will hold 18 rods and can be pulled up in the ceiling by a rope to about 12 feet to get them out of the way. If I can figure out how to post pictures, I will post when I finish.
Keep the posts coming, I am in the process of hanging sheetrock in my garage and looking for a good way to store my rods....now how do I keep the wife from seeing how many I have may be the trick.
