Report: Chickamauga Lake crappie 10/18/2016
I fished with Pat Ryan, aka, Bassert, today on the Chick. We were fishing for crappie. But, first of all, I want to give a praise report and tell you of the power of prayer. Pat lives in Melbourne, Florida during the winter months and lives up here in the summer/fall.
As we all know, recently, hurricane Matthew roared up the coast of Florida and really hit the Melbourne area hard. With Pat and Susan up here, all they could do was pray. This should be our first option and not as a last resort. To make a long story short, Pat and Susan's house did not sustain any damage from the hurricane and every other house on the block did sustain damage. His neighbor called Pat and told him all about it and said that he was lucky that his house wasn't damaged like all the rest of the houses in the area. Pat told him that they rebuked the storm and put a hedge around their property with prayer and the storm left them alone, but hit every other house in the neighborhood. Can I get an Amen to the power of prayer.
Now, the fishing report: People have been reporting really good catches under docks and that was our first option today. We fished deep docks, shallow docks, and medium depth docks. Nada on docks today at least for us. We found good quality fish, biggest just over 13" in deep water 15-20 feet deep. I think that Pat was fishing with Screamers, crystal shads, and maybe tried a couple more colors.
I caught all my fish on Bass Assassin Pro Tiny 2" Shads in S&P Phantom/chartreuse tails, and Chicken on a Chain. Our fish came on 1/16 oz jig heads. I took home 9 keepers for the freezer and we released all the smaller fish that we caught. All of our fish came off 2 places and the fish were biting very lightly. Pat didn't want his pic taken as he may be wanted. JK. Grin.
