KY Shindig and Fruit Jar boaters---BE AWARE!!

KY and Barkley Lakes are both at the lowest levels (354.5) I have ever fished them and lots of ramps are barely usable to terrible. Even some of the larger public ramps are roughing up trailers and props.

Another thing, if you have LakeMaster map cards or cards on your electronics that allow you to off-set your depth setting, be sure to do so.Normal setting for LakeMaster is 359.4. I sat mine for 355 last week and had my shallow water alarm coloration at 4 feet deep and plowed right thru the middle of a sand bar I have probably crossed no less than 500 times over the years. I ended up scratching up my prop and knocking out a small chunk of the lower skeg.

On a brighter note, you can now see lots of stumps and a few house foundations and even sunken barges that I've never seen before.If you have a hankering to get out and wade around 1/2 mile from the shore and not get your knees wet, there are plenty of those spots.

The big white birds that are all over the place are pelicans.

It's the same to the south around Danville on ky lake also ,fished Saturday Ran up on a old road bed that usually under water and no problem but is less than a foot deep now... Luckly I was just idling and was able to get off it ... A bass fisherman wasn't so lucky hit it on plane and tore his lower unit off

Good post Doug. I haven't witnessed any carnage yet but have cringed expecting the worst watching where some folks are running on plane on Barkley the last few times out. I came across a hump idling around that came up to 5fow with stumps on top that navionics said was pancake flat and 20ft deep the other day.

Whats a good ramp for me to use Doug.

Kenlake and Jonathan should be OK. Forget the LBL ramps and small resort types. KY Dam should be fine. Big Bear is rough and unless they have done major work on Malcom recently it is to be avoided. Used to have tabletop drop off the end in low levels that has eaten many trailers including one of mine.

Do not go to Malcolm or whispering oaks. Be careful at Big Bear ramp. Moors is OK.

Any of those sunken barges have a short fat guy chewing backer behind the wheel?

Might have been at some time past. The one's I'm seeing are on the west side--not normal barge territory.

It's suppose to be at 354.1' on friday. I haven't seen the lakes this low in several several years. Everyone be cautious of the weather and the conditions.
