Crappie cranks
So I picked up a few different crappie cranks, but being a small jig guy, I'm not 100% sure how to use cranks for crappie. Do you reel a lot faster? For example - my handle makes 1 revolution per about 1-1.5 seconds for most jigs (1/16 oz, for example). How much faster should I reel for a crank? These say they dive 2-4 feet. Any advice on using cranks for crappie would be great! Thanks in advance guys! :)

Most of us troll them at 1.8 mph

I guess I need to do a bit of math to figure out how fast to reel to get 1.8mph. Haha I fish from the shore a lot, so no gps to mark my speed.

If I was limited to fishing cranks from shore I would be using sinking type baits like countdown rapalas, rattletraps, etc. I'm afraid even with one of the super high speed retrieve reels you are going to be disappointed casting any type of floating bait from bank and expecting to get it to a productive depth.

Time to get the ol' jon boat out and do some trolling, I suppose. Thanks for the thoughts guys! :)
