You never know when or where therefore I always carry.
This morning Linda and I hooked up the boat to go fish Bayou Black's Turtle Bayou. Things started well until we ran into a tragedy. As we rounded a curve in the road in front of an old friend's house we could see blue lights flashing. When we got close we saw that there were 4 police vehicles on the side of the road in front of his house. Then as we passed directly in front, we saw him lying face down in his yard, he wasn't moving and no one was near him. There were too many cars along the highway for us to park with the boat so we instantly said prayers for him. At first I thought maybe he had be hit by a car as he was only about 20 feet from the highway. But then I noticed how peaceful he lay, with his head resting on his arm to keep his head off of the grass. I then thought of a heart attack because he did have issues. Around noon I got the news that he had been shot, how sad. A 87 year old with no wife or kids just living a good quiet life in his little camp on the bayouside not too far from where he was raised as a kid. He and his brothers were great childhood friends of my Father in Law and were also friends of ours. What a terrible way to reach the end of one's life, at the hands of a criminal for just a few dollars. May Dale rest in peace and the Good Lord give him his just reward. I won't pass judgement on the criminal but will leave that up to God for if it were up to me I'd take him apart limb by limb.
