When fishing with minnows, we catch about 60% perch with a high % swallowing the hook. Has anyone tried circle hooks with minnows and had fewer hooks in the throats of their catch?

I like the Matzuo sickle octopus for that. You still set the hook, but they're easier to get out if they get it a little deep.
I like the gainakatsu # 2 lite wire octopus always hook in the upper lip most of the time.
I use them all the time. Perch hardly ever swallow them and crappie do every well on them. Been using them a couple of years now.:highfive
I use them often and have no problem with them.
Are you snelling the octopus hooks?
