Newbie: advice needed on rod holder placement

Hello you all. In the near term i want to set up for a night stalk on either wateree or murray and just bought these nice rod holders from stormwalker. He gave me an extra set of base mounts which i plan to install closer to the bow mount electric for tight lining and will purchase an extra set of base mounts for long lining. But in the near term, do you think this is the best place to mount the rod holder for a night stalk so i can use the rail hooks for the neon lights? I have two single rod holders on each side already installed in the rail tops for the sides of the boat which would be 10 rods total. Thank you for any advice before i start fastening them down. Tim

Put about 150 around the boat, you'll find a use for them all.

Tim, as long as it is comfortable to reach for you. I like mine on my Alumnacraft on the side in front on me. All I have to do is lift the rod straight up. No leaning or jumping up to grab a rod. It's what suits you though.:biggrin

Tim put them where they are easy to grab. Night stalking does no matter that much as each person should have there own light. I am not sure how many rods most people fish but I only fish 3 or 4. May fish more as I get better at it.

Appreciate the responses, i think i will mount those there to be centrally placed over where i will tie up the lights. When its all said and done, think i will buy two more sets of base mounts and two more rod holders like these for a total 8 base mounts and 4 rod holders, two base mounts in the bow for night stalking and tight lining, one set of base mounts on the sides for night stalking to replace the single rod holders i already have, and one set of base mounts on the back for long lining. I dont think i need more than four of these rod holders with how easy they make it to detach from the base mount. This way i can fish four people for night stalking.

Sounds like you got a plan.

Back when I nightstalked I fished 8 rods and Allen fished 8 rods (4 on each side of the front and 4 on each side of the back). Naturally when the fish bit good we weren't able to keep near that many in the water though. Like already said....put 'em right at your hands so you can grab 'em quick and just lift the rods.

Tim, when the perch gather around you, you'll be busy just untangling your lines. It like a fire drill. :biggrin
