I bought 4 new rods for spider rigging and have 4 bait casters with depth finder line already on them. Is this OK or would it be better to change it out for Hi-Vis 10# braid?

Should be fine in my opinion. I use hi-vis mono, 8-10lb and tie my rigs out of 8lb fluorocarbon. Haven't broken one off in quite some pushing minners and jigs, don't have much of a problem straightening those hooks out.

I would leave the depth finder line on so to be able to pull cranks,RR jigs,etc. and if you wanted to spider rig with lighter line or different line just add a piece of leader line if needed. If you do take that DF line off you may want to wind it up neatly and keep it for later that stuff ain't cheap and you may want to try long lining some time in the future.:twocents
Why braid? Have you ever used it on a long pole?
Either leave that line on the reels and use it or take it off and use a hi vis mono of some type. I use 12lb Trilene Big Cat Green, its cheap and you can see it real good for a couple weeks, after that you have ot strip of 30 feet or so and freshen it up.
Why mono instead of braid?
No I have not used it on a long pole. Why not?

I use 30lb braid because Weiss is full of trees, brush and cover. I can straighten out hooks most of the time. It is aggravating to use on long poles especially if the wind is blowing, which it usually does if I go. I dont' like long poles any way but do what is necessary to catch a fewQuote:

Braid can be a wonderful tool when used in certain conditions. Like footballcoach mentioned above, in lakes with heavy underwater cover like Weiss or Greers then it can save you a ton in crankbaits. Also, if you normally fish for black crappie in brush piles then it could be argued that braid can save you some time from having to retie all the time. That time you saved should be compared to the risk you took try to saving that 50 cent jig using the tip of your $50 pole. Braid also has a tendency to wrap around fast tips (like BJGPs or SCRs) in windy conditions or just about any condition. If your poles are close to the same length as your boat then it very quickly becomes an unnecessary pain with all the good monos currently on the market.

Fresh braid does tip wrap. After it gets more supple, with use it isn't as bad.
I use Hi Viz for spider rigging tho. I tie my own rigs from Silver Thread AN-40 in 12lb test. It's a co-polymer line with a smaller diameter than the line test.
