I use the smallest hook snap I can find.

Here's a link to what I've been using for the past 10 years:
Mustad Snap Hooks. Easily change flies without tying
They work extremely well for attaching jigs and/or hooks of any kind. Original intent of these hooks was for fly fishermen, so the wire is very fine, although I've never had a failure of them breaking. Win-win. I only use the size #2, which is ideal for 1/32 - 1/8 oz. ball head jigs. Works for me. :)
I like the No-Knot Fas Snaps from Bass Pro in the large size.
I like the looks of that snap, but I'm kind of concerned about the hook coming off. Have you ever had a hook come off? This was concerning the fly snap from Crestliner.
I use Duo-loc snaps..use the smallest size that fat fingers and old eyes can tie on. :biggrin Besides using for cranks, I use them for jigs too. The fish don't care. Makes changing baits, well, a snap. ...5...
Duo-loc snaps ... size #2 ... 5/8" long ... (not sure on brand :scratchhead)
Never happened to me with the duo-loc snaps, either. (I think the size I use is rated at 25lb test) And I seriously doubt it would happen with the fast snaps ... unless they were "sprung" (bent open too far, somehow). But, even that scenario is unlikely given the pound test line we normally use.
I don't use "snaps" on my jigs ... I tie direct. I use them on crankbaits (when casting) and on my 30# braid (main line) on my jig pushing/spider rigging rods. Their sole purpose is to facilitate a quick change of baits.
