Taylorsville Slabs

Well, actually .... no !! :biggrin

CJPAR3 and I hit T-ville today, since he had a vaca day he had to burn (or lose).

Probably caught around 30 fish ... around a dozen were no brainer throwbacks, and another dozen that "touched" the 9" mark on my Golden Rule or maybe a 1/4" over it ... but they went back in, too. We did bring home 7 "keepers" (9.5-10").

Blue/char ruled the day, but several fish were caught on other colors.

Little to no wind ... water temps ranged between 83-85deg ... water color was typical T-ville green ... fish caught mostly over or near fallen timber that was in the shade ... bite depth was 3-8ft deep over 8-12fow ... bite was fairly aggressive early in the day (good thumps), but became lighter from midday to late afternoon (basically they were "just there" - with no discernible "thump")

All keeper fish that were brought home were male White Crappie. No Black Crappie were caught today, not even dinks. :scratchhead

We have been seeing a lot more nice white crappie in Tville since last fall.

Bubba .... I've been seeing more Slabs in both species since last Spring !! Especially this past Spring !! I've caught 11-12" Crappie from there for many years past, but they weren't particularly all that thick. The 11-14" fish I caught this past Spring had some serious "shoulders" on them :ThumbsUp

I just hope we didn't crash the Slab population this past Spring :bash ... I'd certainly like to have a few of those in my creel this coming Fall, and next Spring, too !!

Like I told Carl (cjpar3) ... with the moon still in the sky during most of the day, Easterly winds (what little there was), clear skies, & higher than normal air & water temps for this time of year ... I was happy to have caught as many as we did !! :biggrin

I caught several nice ones last week, around 11"+,
But I only fish the deeper water this time of year,
outside the trees in 35' to 50'
And I also use 1/8 oz jigs with 3" grubs.
It catches bigger crappie everytime.
