Binoculars
I've been looking for a set of replacement binoculars for use around the swamp and I am seeing a lot of brands I have never heard of before. Any recommendations? They need to be about 10 X 42 with eye relief 15-20 mm and around $100 bucks. Any recommendations? Prefer BPS since I have some money to spend there.

I picked up a pair of 10x42 at Gander Mtn last week made by Bushnell that might work for you. $99 + tax. Seem pretty clear, easy to adjust, even the wife said they were "better" than some more expensive sets in same magnification, and seemed a bit lighter in weight than others. Came with strap and a decent carrying case.

That's a lot to ask for $100. If 6x30 would work I'd look at Leupold Yosemite.

I can find them but they are off brands that I've never heard of.

Can you find out where the off brands are made. Most times that will give you an indication of the quality.
Here is one review that can get you going. I too haven't heard of some of the brands listed.

Good luck, its a huge market. I have a set I got for a 5 year work anniversary that I keep in my boat. They are in the low cost category. Functional, however there are times When I wish I had better quality.

I have Steiner from Germany, and they are great, but will be more than $100 dollars. I would look in the pawn shops, you might find something usable.

If you can get a copy of the October Outdoor Life magazine, there is an extensive article on choosing binoculars. They ranged in price from $120 to $1950.
