i dont use crankbaits , but if i did i might use a small crappie imitation......
and just toss it and crank it .....in the lipless version as well ......

I'm willing to bet that I have "hair lipped" a few Crappie myself, over the years. :biggrin
And I do remember reeling in nothing but the top lip of a Crappie that got into the brush before I could get it under control. Felt bad about it, but maybe it survived as is evidenced by the one in your picture. I hope so.
yes sir i have brought in quite a few lips myself ....they say i set the hook way to hard ....LOL
we managed 3 or 4 crappie missing lips at that spot and one bass was the same way as well that evening
i imagine it is painful but they seem to survive it from what i can tell ....
seen several larger specimens with holes and rips in the lips before that looked to be rather old wounds in the past as well
