Defective boat issues resolved
First and foremost, we got things with my boat resolved without lawyers. I just pulled in the driveway with a new Alumacraft with an 80 Yamaha Jet. I am not speaking negative now so (I guess I can name them)... Cabela's did step up. However the manufacturer of that other boat is completely worthless. All they did was duck responsibility and finally Cabela's corporate and Jimi Williams (manager of Bristol) got together and said you are our customer and we are going to make this right. First off, Cabela's reimbursed me the 3 payments I had made on the leaking boat last week and acknowledged that the boat was defective and they would communicate with the manufacturer to get a replacement. First communication was to pick out any boat of the same manufacturer within $3000 above what I paid for the defective boat for an even swap. Well I did a "build and price a boat" on this manufacturers website and had it all sent in but when I got there today, the manufacturer had changed from 2016 to 2017 prices and the same boat went up $4400 in price and they expected me to pay the difference. I walked out and said that was unacceptable. They offered to make some deals on other same manufacturer boats but nothing I really was impressed with and I really did not want a pontoon either. This Alumacraft had a Yamaha versus the old boat had a Mercury, the trailer on this new boat is built a good bit better, I like the layout of this boat better so we traded even although it was MSPR higher priced on the Alumacraft. I am satisfied that Cabela's treated me fair. It took longer than I wanted to but we got resolution and I know a few of you guys on here made some communication that certainly helped me out...and I really appreciate it. Anyway, hope and pray this new boat is 100% when I take it out and then I am going to make good on that hog cooking I promised yall. Lets get together so we can do some fishing this fall and eat some good old hog meat. After the way the manufacturer of that leaking boat has talked down to me and even hung up on me...I would not pay for a motor and trailer if they offered to throw a boat in for free from them. The youtube video of the leaking boat that Cabela's took back is still up and I plan to leave it up. There was 2 holes 1 inch long and half inch wide that was never welded at the factory. They even called me last week and tried to pressure me again to allow them to caulk my leaking boat that should have been welded. I have nothing good to say about that company AT ALL...so as Forest Gump says "that is all I have to say about that".
