Report: Chickamauga Lake crappie 9/09/2016
With the Chattanooga Crappie Club having a tournament, day after tomorrow, and the Crappie for Canines tournament coming next Sunday, the 18th, I decided to change gears a little bit this AM and leave the fish alone that I have been catching and bass fished with top water lures for about an hour this morning. Then I switched to crappie searching. Grin.
I went into an area that has been dead for almost 2 years on the Chick and tried to find where all the crappie have gone that we used to catch on a routine basis and didn't have any real luck. I did manage to find a couple of schools of fish on brush, but when I finally did get them to bite, the were all from 6-9" long. Good for the future, but I didn't catch a keeper in the huge area that I graphed. I did hook up a big fish under a dock, but it took off, wrapped around a post and pulled the lure out of its mouth. It wasn't a slimer because none of the slime was on the line. Boat rule says that it was a drum. LOL
While I was top water fishing in grass beds this morning, I did land to little largemouth bass, missed one on a buzzbait, and hooked a keeper looking bass that I got about 1/2 way to the boat and then he dived into the thick mat, hung up and when I got the boat close, I then felt him pull off and leave me with a big wad of milfoil. I caught the bass on Pop'Rs.
I have errands to do today while my wife, Wanda, runs about the countryside with our daughter on the Friday day's out so I quit fishing around 11:30 or so. I know that the pics are going to be sideways and I don't know why they suddenly started doing that. When I first started posting pics on here, they came out straight. Sorry if you get a crick in your neck looking at little fish. Grin.
