What is Chirp?
Ok guys, I'm looking at a new HB Helix 10 SI. But the 12 has Chirp. I understand it's only on 2d sonar . Do I need to save a little more and get the 12 for this feature? Can someone post a couple pics with and without Chirp? So far I don't understand the difference.

CHIRP will have somewhat cleaner 2d images with more target separation ...
This is simply because the sound pulse is a "sweep" of several frequencies in one pulse ...which, in effect can collect more data to be displayed in the 2d image ...

I'm not sure if anyone here at CDC has the HELIX 12 yet ...
I know sfw1960 has the HELIX 12 DI model with CHIRP ... I'll see if he can share some images ...

I had some RFI issues on my 12DI when I 1st installed it and have gotten rid of most of it now, so these are not the "cleanest" looking - but I would gladly sell one of my 999's to add a Helix12SI to the covey...

These last 2 are tuned up and cleaned up fairly nice...

I didn't post any non-Chirp is, B/C they're all over to be seen.
The "hooks" or "tails" of the fish arches are much more defined and better target separation is obviously much better.
HTH....
