Saturday, I had my first Asian Carp encounter in Clifton. I was in the back of Beech Creek, where it is pretty shallow and had a 10lb.'er jump over the back of my Pontoon. I was saddened to see that they had made it that far into the TN River. It did give me an idea for my retirement though... I'll charge people to shoot them from the two fishing seats in the back of the boat! Maybe a 12 ga. will slow them down a little...
Where else on the TN River are people seeing them?
According to this : https://www.tn.gov/assets/entities/t.../asiancarp.pdf ... they may be all over the Tenn River system, with Silver's as far upriver as Wheeler & Bighead's as far upriver as Watts Bar :mad:
Not so fast there my friend. Thanks to the US coast guard (More federal Crap) if you do that it falls under guiding to fish and now TWRA gets their money and then you have to pass a Coast Guard test which cost around $1,000.00 when everything is said and done.
Not to mention that COE waters/land have strict laws against GUNS ... except during hunting seasons. And even if it was legal & you were all licensed up ... your retirement money probably wouldn't even cover your liability insurance coverage. nononoQuote:

I know you were probably just being facetious, CliftonTN ... but, others may take your idea seriously, so TC & I are just trying to nip that idea in the bud by explaining the ramifications & consequences that come with it.
I asked the GW about shooting them like skeet. He's just laughed and said no shooting from a moving boat

They have been at Clifton for years. As we have them at Pickwick dam. Were lucky so far, have not had many jumpers. But when you do its wild. I hear they taste like chicken, and its open season on them. So if we pass this along to everyone. Should not take long for all of us Pickwick Rednecks to wipe them out. I know just dreaming as there here to stay.
Forgot to add, the I think its Bigheads. Are here in force also. When the flood gates are open, waters in the TVA parking lot below the dam. Theres guying catching 80 lbers out of the boat ramp parking lot. I think it was 7 winters ago. There was a guy there about my size. And he had one that was 76 lbs. He was holding it up as high as he could get it. And the tail was touching the ground. Standing by him we were both about the same height. And I'm 6'1" on a good day

Thanks everyone. I was joking around, but you have to admit, that would be fun!! I did a little research and was surprised that they can grow to 100lbs. and are supposedly good to eat....(don't think I could ever bring myself to try carp of any kind though..
We cooked some Silver carp at a Humminbird seminar a few years ago and they were great. I plan on cooking up a batch at our KY Shindig on October 22. They do have a Y bone structure like pike and are more trouble to clean. Good thing is nobody will feel bad about wasting some while cleaning them. The meat is as white as crappie when cleaned properly and the taste is very mild.Quote:
