I ordered a garmin 93sv to upgrade my electronics on my boat. I have a seaark heavy duty john boat with a lowrance unit currently. Could somebody who knows give me some tips/advice on replacing the old unit with the new? I am basically a beginner when it comes to this kind of installation. Any advice on whether to attempt this myself? Would like to but don't want to screw up! Any advice is much appreciated!
Not trying to scare you . But I would say the best thing you could do if you don't know nothing about this is to go to the Alabama forum and ask if anyone that lives close to you would help you with this sonar installation. Most people don't mind helping others doing it if they have done it before. Biggest thing is to make sure you don't hook the battery up backwards and use the right size fuses ,wires,etc. as electronics are not very forgiving and it will ruin your unit.:twocents
I second what Scrat said. If your not comfortable let someone help you and learn as you go. I can tell you how but that won't help your comfort level. If you do get into it feel free to PM me with any questions you might have.
