NW Arkansas Newbie - School me!

Hey everyone - I'm new here in every sense of the word and would love to get some info and direction from anyone willing to provide.

1. I'm new to NWA and Arkansas as a whole. Home originally is Iowa, and the last 5 years I lived in Wisconsin (Go Packers!). This is the farthest south we've ever lived. Any place within an hour of Fayetteville that would be recommend to go target Crappie? If on Beaver Lake, can you provide some specific areas?

2. I'm new to Crappie fishing. I've tended to hunt more, so any fishing is maybe worms or random jigs and pulling up whatever bites. Tons of info I've already found through this site as a whole, so more specifically it'd be great to know some basics about our region.

3. I'm new to the site, have learned some basics, but please point me towards any info rich threads.

I have a 14' canoe with a trolling motor, so my on-water access is limited, but I'm up for some exploration.
I've also tried a little fly fishing and would be curious to learn more about that sport as well. (any overlap into Crappie?)

Appreciate any and all ideas and advice!

Lake Sequoyah in Fayetteville is supposed to have some excellent crappie fishing. It's an idle only lake so you don't have to worry about getting swamped by big boats in your canoe

Look for ropes hanging of the sides of boat docks. People hang brush off the side of there docks up there because it's so deep. Most will be around 20-30 ft. deep. Some may get mad at ya for fishing them but it's fair game. I went with a guide up there once and we smoked em fishing that way. Good luck!

Beaver is THE poorest fishing of all the white river lakes. Too many Stripers! All the fish in that clear lake act like stripers they follow the shad and suspend a lot, I have caught bass on that lake down to 70 feet. It is my least favorite lake to fish in Ark and I have fish most all of them. If I had to fish it all the time I would concentrate on the more stained river arms. Stained water puts fish shallower and they are much more apt to hug right to cover making them easier to pattern. Just my 2 cents.

the lakes in Bella Vista has pretty decent bass fishing, but crappie isn't as good.

does SWEPCO have good crappie fishing?

Stay away from the end where they dam is unless you want to catch more bass than you can shake a stick at and no crappie. I think the south end is the better end for crappie.
