The 898 is a 7" screen, the 998 was 8" - GLWS.

I'm new to the electronics. I have never had to use them. Does this unit work good ? Had any problems with it in the past ? what is the external GPS puck for. ?

Frank, I have a 898 and they work great. Nice priced unit that will find you things you didn't know existed. Check out some side imaging forums and you will be convinced.
