Do you think 4 inch laminate floor slats would work for crappie beds? I have a pile from redoing my floors. They are a little on the thin side but I think they may work. Any thoughts?

Don't see where they would not work. Give them a try and let us know how they did.
I would cut off a small piece and put it in a bucket of water and see what happens before I went to the trouble of making beds just to have them fall apart on you. A lot of times the laminate flooring is made out of fibers that are glued and pressed together. When water hits it , it tends to fall apart. In your case I hope I'm wrong. Let us know what you find out.

most of the glue contains formaldahyde .....might not be good for the environment....dunno
You can go to the laminate manufacturer online and find the MSDS sheet to know the types of materials used and whether they are poisonousQuote:

No surprise there.
Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen. Formaldehyde is being used as glue (industrial resin) in laminate wood flooring and particle board. Think about that for a moment.
