I returned to Limestone Creek today, mix bag with a limit of gills and 9 Crappie.
I caught a bit of everything, bass, smallmouth, catfish, gills, shellcracker, Crappie, perch, google eye, not sure if I've ever caught so many different species in a single trip. Best bait was a 1/32oz spinner with a white twister tail. Water was 75 degrees and clear with visibility of three feet.

Do you use a stringer or how do you keep fish in a kayak? Sure sounds like a blast to me.

SeaRay, The fish go in a cooler with reusable ice packs. Cheap way to cool off the fish protecting the catch while still staying low weight in a kayak. Also cheaper then continuing to buy ice. The one down side is you can't cull fish or change your mind when you only catch a hand full. I limited out early Sunday, returning 6 or 7 shellcrackers that were 10 inches or better and many gills that were larger than what I had in my cooler. Great day though, all the gills were 9" or better. I dedicated this summer to chasing gills and figuring out how to catch a few using only artificial lures. I've been doing pretty well.
Thanks DB. For what it's worth, last week a friend and I were casting to the bank just killing time before we set up for night time cat fishing. I was using a jig and he was trowing a Bitsy Pond Minnow and the Bream were tearing his up and ignoring my jig. I switched to a Beetle Spin but he still out caught me 5 to 1 on the tiny plug.
I tried the smallest crappie crank I had, which was twice the size of the Bitsy plug and it did not help.
There are a couple in my tackle box now.

Sunday is the first day that I can remember catching a fish nearly every cast, all day. I'd love to believe it was my skill as an angler, but I know better. Several times as I worked in a hooked fish in the clear water I would see a following fish hitting the shiny spinner hanging out of the hooked fish's mouth. Something had them turned on, the fish were hitting on the surface all day and every fish I cleaned was stuffed with small bait fish or crawfish. I normally catch a handful of perch each year, Sunday I caught two dozen, strange.
The bad news is my old kayak (Old Town Dirigo 120) sprung a leak, so I'm off the water this coming weekend outfitting my spare (Native Ultimate 12) . I can't complain, I bought the Dirigo used several years ago for half the new retail price. I've got my money's worth out of it.
