Not crappie but fishing.
Met Neil at the lake Murray damn this morning to give the stripers a go. After launching and getting bait we headed to the towers. We tried around the tower but no takers so we headed up the lake. Found a couple schools but could not buy a bite. We kept moving and finally found some feeding fish. We wound up with 3 stripers over 21 inches which was good. Did not see a lot of fish caught. I kept one to bake and sent the other two home with Neil. We met a fellow from Rockingham that came down to check out my motor that I have for sale. He bought it and so that is one less headache to worry about. I got a 150 hp optimax going on the boat next week. we were down rod fishing 50 ft deep and it got hot in a hurry. Don

Glad ya found a few hungry ones. The summer bite can be tough on Murray. Good you got your motor sold. Now get that new one ready for the fall bite.

That's some nice fish Don. Glad y'all found some biting, were y'all right off the bottom? I didn't make it this morning had some things come up I had to take care of today. Don was Richard at the damn selling bait? Thanks for the report
-
Mark Richard was at the damn we bought our bait from him. He is there on sat and Sunday. We caught our fish in 80 ft of water fishing 50 ft deep. I fish at what depth I see the fish. All the fish we saw were 40 to 60 ft deep so we kept changing our depth.
-
Yeah I was just wondering if you were in 70 to 80ft and they were suspended 50ft up. Thanks Don.

Here are the 2 I caught one with the help from Don.
I was unhooking the first one and my #2 rod went down and Don set the hook and handed me the rod for the fight.
Glad we found a few. It sure was Hot but it was a great to finally met Mr. Don and get some fishing time in with him.
Looking forward to fishing with him again next week on Wylie
Mr. Don, Thank you so much for everything today and looking forward to some more fishing with you soon.
These are my first Stipers but I hope not my last.
After we parted ways I went over to Monticello park and tried the catfish from the pier. Got a few bites but no takers.

Anytime you hook up on a good striper it's fun. Glad you two got a few to bite. When does it get good down there Don? I have yet to catch one down there. I watched Ray and Remus lose John and myself one time. :fish They kept saying they was in front of the red roof house.:dono Little did we know they was nine miles south of us!:scratchhead We saw four red roofs trying to find them and a couple of cell towers but we forgive them for that! I think!:bash:Rofl
Thanks for the pictures and report.:popcorn

Striper are sure one hard fighting fish. Congrats to both you guys on catching 'em.:)
-
That is the same pattern we are seeing. Problem is they bite so sporadically I am reluctant to have a bunch of folks drive down here and not catch anything.
Last time out our graph was lit up with fish in the 40-60 ft range but we could not get them to hit. We managed 3 fish in 4 hours. When Remus came down we only got 2.
But the pattern Don described is consistent right now.

good going fellers stripers that size are some good eating and fighters
thanks for the report and pics.
Ray its always good to come down and fish with you == catching is a bonus
same as anywhere else yall have been good to come to Wylie and fish with us
and have no compaints if we catch or not and we bout like yall if we come down
there and catch um ==good== if we don't catch um it is always good to see ya
and most usually you have a nice and good place picked out to have a little meal
which is always a nice bonus. so if we come down there and don't catch fish don't
worry about it we did that before and are real good at it :biggrin
