Gene, I don't really know how to calculate it for a outboard but I used 60 mph and that equvilates out to around 102,000 miles. So considering it is a small car engine I would say yes it is a lot of hours. Must have been being used in a commercial operation. I would check to see what a rebuild would cost for rings, bearing and gaskets, then factor that into the cost.
I'm with Cray, have to be a mighty good deal to go with it.
Thanks for the reply. He posted a print out of the engine computer check and 95% of the hours are under 2000 RPM. I'm thinking that the motors were used on a swamp tour boat or something similar. I've never rebuilt a Yammy before but had done it to many Johnson/Evenrude in my day. I'm sure I could handle the job and get the block bored and polished by professionals. The disassembly an assembly should not be a problem. I just would rather bolt one on and go. He wants 3000K for the engine.

don't see anything about age of motor and that could also factor in. just sayin'
a car that's 3 yrs. old with that many miles is one thing and one that's 10 yrs.old is another
Good point wannabe, I have yet to receive a call from the seller to find out such answers. Thanks,
