Heard their was a drawdown in Henderson's future. Anyone know when it'll start and how long? Also, why…grass control?? Thanks, BC

It's more to kill the lilly pads in the woods. It should start the 5th. It will be dropped 3" a day till it gets to 6 ft and will be kept there. There isn't much grass only areas is old ski course has a lil and the bar pits. Nothing like it used to be.

Hate to show my ignorance, but how do they draw down Henderson? Isn't it part of the Atchafalaya basin?
I would think a draw down would be beneficial for the fish also? Could someone give pros and cons of a draw down, drying of lake bed, grass effect, spring spawn etc? Thanks
There are gates (control structures) and when the main river is lower they can open and let the water out. If the river rises they would have to close them if they are trying to keep it low. The South gates can open for barges into Henderson lake.
Notice when you are East bound onto the basin bridge (I10) you cross 2 levees on the West side. Henderson lake is between those 2 West levees.
Saw in the paper that they're also going to draw down Lake Martin. Pretty low from my understanding.
