Here's a video I took of Wally at ICAST. I know these "slime" products and amonia reducing products work in aquariums for fish I've kept, so I'm sure they work at least at some level for the Crappie in your livewell. I thought it was cool so I thought I'd share. I can just about guarantee that reducing the amonia level reduces the Crappie's stress level though.
I'm not sure about that statement that your fish will weigh any more, but who knows.

here in texas i have seen crappie slough off a bunch of slime in the time it takes me to take a photo and put them back in ......
we had one large black crappie the other day that looked like it had lots of long ribbons hanging off it when i released it .....
and any reduction of slime loss will result in a fish weighing more if that matters to you for sure ....
