I'm thinking about putting a trolling plate on my pontoon. I'm leaning toward a troll a matic but open to suggestions. Is there any brand I need to stay away from or any other advise? It will be on a Yamaha 90 4 stroke. Also how do these work when in reverse or docking, as in, does it make steering harder?
It affects backing using the troll a matic because it is always down unless you going forward with enough thrust to keep it up....when I had mine I had to back very very slowly.
I have one on my stick steer that works like the troolomatic. It does affect the steering when backing up but I have gotten used to it and never pay any attention to it anymore. Much better option than the ones that lock in place. You are going to at some point forget to trip it and so ear off the locking pin.
