Anchor system configuration, setup, and use

My Anchor Setup is currently just a 12# Danford with 150' of rope (rode is the fancy word) just tied to a rib of the boat.
I just feed the rode into a 5gal bucket on the deck for storage and lay the anchor between the forward bulkhead and the 5gal bucket.
When the Anchor is deployed I just tie it off to the starboard bow cleat.

Based on readings this is not ideal for many reasons and makes for a potentially dangerous condition because the anchor/bucket is loose and able to fly around in the event of an accident.

I'm looking at a few different options for holding the rode while anchored.
I can't be the only person who's had these questions but I've not been able to find pictures or explanations online that match what I'm looking for.

Right now the thought is to extend my foredeck with plywood to make an enclosure for the 5 gal bucket AND give a storage locker door on the deck to put the anchor in. In addition adding an anchor pulley ATTWOOD Lift'N Lock Anchor Control | West Marine

Will the pulley hold the rode or do I still need to tie it off to a cleat/quick pull type cleat?

do you have a pic if it installed on your vessel both in storage mode, and such.

I always use a jam cleat to secure the anchor line, as it can be quickly disengaged even if the line is under pressure, which would prevent me from taking it off a regular cleat. I also tie a float to the other end of the anchor line, so if I do have to jettison the anchor for any reason I can go back to the area and retrieve the whole assembly. The float only has to keep the end of the line afloat. I actually use an old fender for my float.

I keep my anchor, chain and rode in a big soft cooler bag I picked up at BJ's wholesale club. And it is a danforth with 16' of chain and 200' rope and easily fits in and stays neat.

I use a similar anchor, but a slip ring style. Unclear if that is the kind you have. Just add a 4' length of heavy chain to the anchor and then tie it on your main line. I've never lost an anchor to a stump with a slip ring. :)

Pomoxis,I have the lift n lock like the link you posted and I do like it. I saw em at gander mom this week for $10.00 . The weak point is the plastic roller, I've replaced mine with an aluminum roller. My rope, I roll it up on a spool. I also have a boat that has the an ornate on it but have never used it( project boat). I'll post up a pic of mine later
