Enid report Sunday July 10, 2016
It was tough to say the least. We got a new to us pontoon in January, it has a 2012 90hp Mercury 4 stroke fuel injected and it wasn't running exactly right so after getting it to a Mercury dealer and getting the pump from the tank replaced we was ready to go. I had built my racks to pull my cranks with a while back and finally got to try them out Sunday.
The wife and I put in around 6:30 Sunday morning, we met one of the guys fishing the big bow fishing tournament out of Memphis, they must have fished Enid all night. Back to the crappie, we put in, got all 8 rods out, adjusted the rods for the new rack I built and we were fishing, started in the mouth of Long Branch, headed north across the lake. We had line out from 80 to 150 and pink seemed to be the color we caught most of the fish on. We went to the north side of the lake, west to the dam, across the lake to the stare park, back down the south side and by then it was 1:30 so we reeled them up. Caught probably 30 fish, had 7 keepers. One keeper an hour was rough.
On a good note, pontoon did great, lake was calm, might could slow down a little, it was running about 2.2 mph or so. But all in all the pontoon is way more comfortable than the 16' 50" we left in the boat house. lol
Looking forward to when all the shorts are big fish.
Good luck to everyone and keep safe.
On a side note we came through Memphis at 5:30 Sunday but crossed the old bridge and missed the new bridge being shut down.
