Catfish line

Been a little busy at work lately, but I've been thinking some and while I can't do any boating and set limb lines, I'd thought to come up with something a little similar for banks. Basically it's a set amount of line ( didn't measure just cut when it looked good) then a set amount of feet down I put a 1 oz sinker ( again no measurement) then a little ways I tied a knot to let it slip to that point, and did it again with another weight. At the end it's a swivel with a hook. I figured the weights will allow the lines to stay on the bottom and I'll tie the end to a rock or something very inconspicuous.
Has anyone done similar before? the picture was hard to take to capture it all. Guess it would've been easier to draw it out

Tying your throw lines off to something that wont give is a no-no. A decent sized fish will just straighten the hook.

Even if there is enough slack for the fish take it and run?

Fished commercial for catfish for 30 years and never saw that tried. First time for everything though and I'm pulling for you to make it work.

I figure if I can give it a good underhand spin I can get the line out far enough.

When I was young we use to make 15 to 25 ft long trot lines that were tied to a willow tree on one end and a 3 pound window weight on the other end. To throw it we would stretch it out down the bank and swing it out into the water. It worked pretty well.

That's a good idea to move down the bank and launch it like that.

What Saute has said is the only other way I have done them other than out of a boat tied off at both ends. As Saute said, it did work pretty well.

I always tie my hooks about 1' above the sinker on my noodle lines. I don't want my bait sitting in the mud on the bottom. Just my preference

Not trying to re-direct you from here at all...the C.C folks are all great, but if you want another source, or specialized advice on catfishing, there's another called Catfish1.com, that has similar forums like C.C Just thought I'd let you know it was out there if you were interested. I pretty much gave up catfish when I started crappie fishing...and the wife doesn't like the taste as much either, so it's bream and crappie for me. Either way, hope you find something that works for ya!
