I have a bumper crop of cucumbers, so my wife and I tried some HOT bread and butter sweet pickling. Our first time doing this. I hope they turn out ok.
My next batch will be dills. My wife prefers those.

not really a pickle lover but my mom used to make "crispy dills" whatever that is....anyway, I really liked them....
I'm more of a sweet pickle guy myself. This weekend while at friends house he dug some out of the freezer for us to try. These are called icebox pickles and we ate them as a snack while they were slightly defrosted but nice and crunchy. I thought they were great and refreshing. I may have to grow some cukes just for that purpose. Linda used to make some sweet pickles the old fashion way but that is too labor intensive, the icebox ones are so easy to make.

I made 3 pint jars of the dills back on 6-21. Used the recipe from my mom. We use to pickle whole small cukes this way and really enjoyed them. Bruce, the secret to the "crunch" is to let them set in pickling lime overnight in the fridge, at least that is what mom says! I'll let you know when I open a jar and try them.
I luv the mock apple rings made with cucumbers.
I can put the hurt on some fresh cucumbers for sure. I believe you'll like the bread and butter ones you did. We like the ones we prepared.
