Lake Murray Report 7/10/16
Another weekend has come and gone and I enjoyed my time away from work. My little girl turned 1 on Saturday and although we had her party last weekend, her mom and I still tried to make it a special day. We took my parent's pontoon out and had a great time!

This morning we recruited a baby sitter and hit the lake in search of fish! My wife and I used to fish ALL the time together as many of you probably remember. The hustle and bustle of work, family, and just life in general doesn't allow for many of those trips anymore. I was glad to be able to share a boat again with her this morning. Our first date was on the water some 9 years ago and I proposed on the water. We've got a lot of history out there! LOL
Even though it had been some time since her last trip she hasn't lost her touch. It didn't take long at all before she had me reaching for the net! We fished the same pattern as my recent reports. All our fish were caught with the jig pole in 5-20 FOW. As I expected, the pattern is slowly diminishing in this heat. It normally does get tough in late July and August. We caught fish today, but it was slower than recent trips and the size was down a little bit. Nevertheless, we had a great time. We fished from a little after 8 AM to shortly after Noon and had 17 crappie and a nice shell cracker in the box when we quit. We had a few nice crappie, but most were eater size today. Water temp was 88 this morning which is down from my last trip. I guess recent rains have cooled things a bit. I'm sure the fish appreciate it too!! LOL
