Went down over the 4th. Rain kept all the holiday boaters off the lake. Nailed the crappie with limits on Friday and Saturday. Fished only 2 spots all weekend. Was catching them by the observation tower in 25 feet of water about 8 feet down on minnows. Saturday evening we hit a massive school of Whites that were chasing the small shad behind the island up from the dam. We limited out on them in less than an hour.
do you eat white bass? how do you clean them? do you cut the red out, or just eat it?Quote:

We love to eat whites and hybrids. cut out all the red and cook them like any other fish. Very tasty and not fishy at all. The bigger ones we cut into cubes and sauté in olive oil also and they are great. Plus they fight harder than crappie especially the big hybrids.Quote:

We also soak ours in 7 up for a bit before cooking 10 minutes or so. You can eat them right beside crappie and not even know it.
